From Syracuse area via I-81
At the Homer exit, which is exit12, take Rt. 281 south around Cortland to Rt.13 South (You can take exit 11, which is Rt.13 and go through Cortland.) Continue on Rt. 13 to Ithaca. In Ithaca Rt. 13 becomes a divided highway with stores in the center divider. Near the end of the divided area there is an Agway on both sides of the highway. Be in the left lane. Make a left on Rt. 96B which is Clinton St. (as of 7/19 there was construction on Clinton St. Follow detour signs if still under construction.). You want 96B south.) At the top of the hill Rt. 96B makes a right on Aurora Street-Danby Rd. From this corner go 18.2 miles. The firehouse is on the right 0.4 miles after the Dandy Mart. Yes, there are other, possibly even better ways to get here, These are the simplest and easiest to follow directions.

If you miss Rt. 96B in Ithaca, you can continue south on 96 to Spencer. At the blinker light in Spencer make a left to continue on 96.go 8.2 miles to Mill St in Candor and make a left. Go 0.2 miles and make a right on 96B. The firehouse is 0.4 miles on your right. This way is about seven miles further than using 96B.

Adhoc Committee on Area Assembly

Last year, the adhoc committee on area assembly did extensive research on how area assemblies are conduction in other areas in the united states, the results of which can be seen in the following documents.

Ad Hoc delegate surveyAd Hoc email report, and Ad Hoc area comparison

Next, the committee sent the following survey to all groups in Area 47.  We would love to hear your opinion.  Please feel free to fill out a survey and snail mail to Adhoc Committee on Area Assembly, 15587 Rochester, NY  14615 or email to dcm0680@aacny.org.

To download the survey, click here.

Current results of the survey are surprising.  There was a 19% participation rate, about twice a normal response rate which means many members in our area feel this is an important topic.  Additionally, 66% or 2/3 rds of respondents requested some sort of change.  66% is Area 47's agreed level for substantial unanimity.
